Our prestige engineering client is currently recruiting for the following role:
Facilities Engineer BIW - £34/hr (Inside IR35) - Solihull - 6 Months (potential for renewal)
Role:
This role will support our client's global manufacturing strategy and deliver world class facility solutions through product implementation programmes, technology innovation and legacy facility improvement projects. T&PPG/BIW/Paint Facilities Conveyor Team are responsible for introduction of new facilities, materials product lines and new/ current vehicle freshening programs into our client's Solihull site.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Assess feasibility of new facilities and processes, development and management of projects for cost, quality and timing
- Support the area by providing the required capability and capacity at client facilities and supporting equipment, aligned to the programme milestones, launch plans and production requirements.
- Complete feasibility and cost evaluations for proposed new or modified facilities and processes define robust delivery plans with minimised disruption to operations.
- Develop engineering solutions that are suited to the capabilities of appropriate facility and its associated process characteristics as directed.
- Develop robust/lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or process/operational efficiency improvements.
- Manage Contractors in strict accordance with the client's Control of Contractors procedures.
- Manage, maintain and develop all Health, Safety and Operational Risk Management processes and site-specific processes and systems at the area.
- Contribute to the on-going Environmental Innovation and Reporting (Energy, Water, Waste) compliance with client standards.
- Co-ordinate the support and input of all relevant stakeholders to achieve acceptance, buy-off and successful handover of new or modified facilities.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines to deliver programs & facility projects to cost targets and timing.
- Provide a Manufacturing Engineering support role to Plant personnel as a member of cross-functional teams for problem solving and continuous improvement activities with regard to Safety, Quality & Cost
- Be responsible for management of facility documentation on the projects they work on in line with Manufacturing Engineering procedures, supporting TS, ISO, SHARP, LQOS & FPS internal and external audits.
- Lead & partake in multifunctional New Equipment Procurement Teams through all project phases ensuring company procurement procedures are met & adhered to.
- Track project based KPI's & make ready for report out to departmental manager on a weekly basis.
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
Skills / Experience:
- A sound engineering and manufacturing background with previous experience in Automotive Facilities Development and Engineering.
- Proven experience and understanding of process conveyor technologies.
- Experience of reliability and maintainability principals and an understanding of the environmental impacts of engineering solutions.
- Degree qualified or equivalent Engineering experience preferred.
- Ability to control & Manage suppliers (both Material & Equipment).
- Ability to control & manage project budgets.
- Have a working knowledge of the application of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Have the ability to work unsupervised (at times) to a set of objectives & targets.
- Must be flexible with regard to working hours as role requires after hours, weekend & Shut-down working delivering objectives & targets.
- Experience of delivering both operational and strategic transactional and Facilities Management solutions across an array of engineering sites, buildings and customer types.
- Experience within the Facilities development across a variety of industries and geographies.
- Contract and performance management experience.
- Good working knowledge of CDM regulations.
- Have previous experience of Supplier selection and tender management.
- Have a working knowledge of electrical control systems employed with automated equipment & conveyor equipment.
Additional Information:
This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
