Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Asset Management Engineer role
Reporting to Head of Engineering you will:
* Lead the development and implementation of the long-term engineering and maintenance strategy across a fleet of operational assets, ensuring alignment with business goals and legislative requirements.
* Act as the Mechanical Technical Authority, particularly for compliance with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), providing subject matter expertise across the business.
* Support and oversee complex breakdown investigations and plant reliability issues, ensuring timely resolution and long-term prevention strategies.
* Contribute 30–50% of your time to engineering input on construction projects, supporting delivery on time, on budget, and to specification.
* Deliver and manage high-impact engineering solutions through innovative practices, quality improvement programs, and project development.
* Lead and support major plant outages and overhauls, ensuring effective planning, execution, and continuous performance improvement.
* Oversee contractor and supplier engagement, including technical input on tender creation, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
* Implement and manage RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and Management of Change (MoC) processes, ensuring continuous learning and cross-fleet knowledge sharing.
* Support the recruitment, development, and technical competence of engineering staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
* Drive audit, compliance, and quality initiatives, including on-site surveillance and supplier inspections, ensuring engineering excellence and fleet-wide consistency.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (equivalent experience may be considered in exceptional cases).
* Extensive cross-fleet engineering experience in a power generation or similar infrastructure environment, ideally including CCGT operations.
* Strong knowledge of engineering legislation and standards, especially PSSR and associated plant safety systems.
* Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Experience with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) systems, with a proven track record of promoting a zero-incident culture.

* Analytical and solution-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
* Resilient and adaptable, able to manage changing priorities across construction and operational demands.
* Collaborative and communicative, with strong interpersonal skills to engage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders effectively.
