Butchery Supervisor£36,000-£42,000 per annum plus annual performance bonus40 hours per week over 5 days, including rotational weekendsRelocation Assistance AvailableOur Butchery SupervisorThis is an exciting career opportunity to become a leader in this exciting flagship butchery facility where you will contribute towards inspiring a passionate team and drive production success. It goes without saying that the Butchery Supervisor will be dynamic and impactful and will have an impressive track record of butchery experience and commercial transformation to back you up. You will be championing the philosophy, showing leadership, mentoring a team and innovating the processes whilst helping the Head of Butchery to lead the day-to-day workings of our world-class butchery facility. You will work across raw production, cured and cooked production, packaging, and hygiene.Key ResponsibilitiesStock & Supplier Management: Order stock, manage supplier relationships, and maintain optimal stock control.Production Planning: contribute towards developing and implementing production schedules that align with customer needs and operational requirements.Customer Relations: Act as the key contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met and whole carcass utilisation is maximised.Carcass Utilisation/Wastage Management: Ensure the effective use of every part of the carcass, with a focus on reducing waste.Food Safety & HACCP: Maintain impeccable food safety standards, ensure HACCP protocols are followed, and record all necessary food safety documentation.New Product Development: Oversee the development and roll-out of new products, with a special focus on cured and cooked productsWhat we can offerA positive workplace environment with opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.Stay in shape with complimentary use of our gym and wellbeing classesLook after your wellbeing with complimentary access to our Spa and swimming pools and our exclusive benefit of 50% off Spa Treatments.Enjoy shopping in both our shops on estate and online with 30% discount for all our colleagues and free delivery for any online purchases.Complimentary garden membership for the Newt and our partner gardens including the Eden Project, Kew Gardens and The Lost Gardens of HeliganSupport from our Employee Assistance Programme for both yourself and your familyAccess your earnings at anytime with Wagestream, with access to nationwide brand discountsUp to 30 days annual leave each year for our full-time teamWhat we’re looking forButchery Expertise: Strong background in butchery with experience in whole carcass breakdown and producing high-quality finished products in a time critical environment.Leadership: Proven ability to lead and organise a team efficiently.Production Planning: Expertise in creating and managing production schedules to meet deadlines and customer demands.New Product Development: Experience in developing innovative butchery products, especially in cured and cooked varieties.Food Safety: In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, with a comprehensive understanding of HACCP systems and compliance.Large-Scale Facility Experience: Experience running a large-scale butchery operation, with an advantage for those with charcuterie experience.HACCP Committee Experience: Ideally, you will have been involved in or managed HACCP committees.Customer-Facing Experience: Experience working with retail, restaurants, and direct-to-consumer meat sales.Workshops: Experience of designing and delivering butchery workshops to educate, entertain and delight hotel guestsgenerating a valuable revenue stream for the business whilst marketing the Newt e-commerce offering to new customers.Where you'll be workingThe Newt Butchery is at the centre of our food production, sourcing beef, lamb and venison, direct from our farm, and pork and poultry from local farms. In June of 2023 the butchery department moved into a brand new state of the art facility, blending raw production, cured an cooked meat production and a visitor attraction hosting workshops and inspiring guests and customers with our nose to tail whole carcass butchery approach.
