Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Environment, Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Review and modify existing policies and procedures to align with client requirements and ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety Legislation.
* Assist in the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures to meet various regulatory obligations.
* Track adherence to current policies and procedures, reporting any non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
* Conduct routine site visits to perform audits and facility inspections.
* Develop training materials and deliver sessions for relevant employees.
* Support site teams in drafting risk assessments and safe work procedures.
* Investigate incidents and significant near misses, analyse accident trends, and propose proactive strategies for improvement.
* Assist with onboarding new employees by addressing necessary training requirements.
* Offer guidance and support on all health and safety matters within the organization.
* Communicate with regulatory authorities when necessary to resolve compliance concerns.
* Maintain and fulfil internal and external reporting obligations.
* Conduct risk management via thorough risk assessments
* Deputise for the EHS manager during times of absence
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH is a necessity
* A full UK driving licence is a necessity given this is a travelling role
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
The Health and Safety Officer role would suit somebody who has:
* Significant Health and Safety experience in a heavy process engineering environment (Power, Renewables, Paper Mills, Pharmaceutical, FMGC, COMAH sites, etc)
* A good understanding of legislative requirements relating to health and safety
* Experience liaising with the HSE will be advantageous
* A flexible working approach as the role will involve travel between sites
