About Jami & Head Room Café
Jami is the Jewish community’s dedicated mental health charity, supporting young people and adults facing mental illness and distress. Head Room Café, Jami’s social enterprise café, is a dynamic community hub offering not only coffee and delicious food but also daily activities, mental health support, education, and connection for everyone in the local area.
The Role
We’re looking for a passionate and empathetic Supervisor to join our team! In this role, you’ll help lead the daily operations at Head Room Café, ensuring an outstanding café experience for our customers while creating a welcoming, community-focused environment. You’ll also support the Café Manager in team training and supervise daily operations in their absence.

Working Hours:
This post is for 40 hours per week and may include some Sundays. Additional hours may be required to meet business needs, including evenings to cover events. The Cafe is open from 8am to 4pm closed on Saturdays.
What you will be doing:
Café Operations
Organising daily opening and closing tasks, including cash recording.
Overseeing drink and food preparation, ensuring high quality and timely service.
Maintaining café cleanliness and standards, upholding an inviting environment.
Prioritising’ exceptional customer experience.
Contributing ideas to improve café operations, bringing practical solutions.
Managing cash security, receipts, invoices, and stock purchases on shift.
Engaging with customers professionally, addressing any complaints effectively.
Staff Management
Assisting the Café Manager with staff training and retention.
Encouraging and support volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative team spirit.
Supervising daily operations when the Café Manager is absent, setting a strong example for the team.
Ensuring adherence to all operational guidelines.
Maintaining clear communication with the Café Manager and community team.
Hygiene, Safety, and Kashrut
Maintaining records for stock, orders, waste, and temperature checks.
Ensuring stock is sourced from Federation-approved suppliers.
Stock Control
Ensuring the Sous Chef is equipped with daily requirements.
Monitoring drink and product levels, restocking as needed, and notify the Café Manager of any low items.
Liaising with suppliers for replacement stock as needed and record all deliveries.
Basic food hygiene certification or willingness to complete (Essential)
What you will need:
Supervisory role in hospitality (Essential)
Fire safety and Health & Safety practices (Essential)
Food safety and basic COSHH knowledge (Essential)
Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills (Essential)
Ability to work under sustained pressure (Essential)
