We operate as a community within a community, providing services such as nursing, GP, pharmacy, dentist, optician, CAMHS, substance misuse, health promotion, and physiotherapy.As a Registered Clinician – Nurse / Paramedic at Wetherby YOI & Adel Beck, you’ll work with vulnerable young people across both sites. Your role will be varied, challenging, and rewarding. Clinicians are integral to the team, participating in handovers, providing health promotion, and sharing a collaborative workspace.Your responsibilities include:• Initial assessments into custody, Clinical assessments, risk assessments and management of a variety of health needs.• You will facilitate nursing clinics.• Administer medication, immunizations and vaccinations,• Triage and treat minor illness / injuries, attending emergency situations.• Delivering age-appropriate health promotion sessions to this complex yet rewarding client group.This role allows you to use and develop clinical and interpersonal skills while working with some of society’s most vulnerable children (aged 10–18) who face complex circumstances. It’s a chance to provide compassionate care and positively influence young people’s health, well-being, and future choices.You’ll work closely with prison departments, education, safer custody, and probation, ensuring holistic care.At Adel Beck, services support children aged 10–17 in secure settings due to welfare or justice needs.HMP Wetherby YOI offers excellent facilities, free parking, staff gyms, and a coffee shop, with easy access to Leeds, Harrogate, and York via the A1(M).Skills will involve:Initial assessments into custody, Clinical assessments, risk assessments and management of a variety of health needs.You will facilitate nurse-led clinics.Administer medication, immunizations and vaccinations,Triage and treat minor illness / injuries, attending emergency situations.Delivering age-appropriate health promotion sessions to this complex yet rewarding client group.Key Responsibilities:1. Clinical1.1. Demonstrates a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of common aetiologies, pathologies, conditions and presentations1.2. Demonstrates the ability to apply theory to practice at a proficient level when assessing, planning, treating and reviewing using a holistic philosophy1.3. Highly developed physical skills in order to demonstrate accuracy and dexterity when delivering care and treatments essential to clinical role e.g. preparation of medications, manipulation of equipment1.4. Makes judgements requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of options and ensures clinical reasoning is reflected accurately in case records1.5. Engages and actively involves the individual and, if appropriate, their family/carer, in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of treatment and/or care by using person-centred techniques to promote a culture of involvement and empowerment1.6. Works to standards of proficiency identified by their professional and regulatory bodies performing clinical treatments/procedures to a competent standard1.7. Prioritises their own workload within agreed objectives deciding when to refer to others as appropriate.1.8. Approaches everyone with care, compassion and sensitivity ensuring that these values are reflected in the management of any complaints and compliments1.9. Provides and receives complex, sensitive or contentious information where motivational, persuasive, empathetic, negotiating and reassurance skills are required whilst demonstrating an understanding of barriers to communication.1.10.
