Responsibilities and duties of the Generator Commissioning Engineer
Key responsibilities:
* Lead and manage generator installation and commissioning projects onsite.
* Perform generator pre-commissioning, final commissioning, and fault diagnostics.
* Install, replace, and upgrade generator control systems, including ATS and switchgear.
* Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas generators efficiently.
* Conduct site surveys and inspections of mechanical and electrical generator equipment.
* Carry out protection relay and metering testing (G99 compliance).
* Perform site efficiency testing on gas generator plants.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Apprentice trained engineer in relevant engineering subject
* Minimum 3–5 years' hands-on experience in generator commissioning and control systems.
* Strong knowledge of diesel and gas generator operations and associated components
* Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
* Competent in G99 protection relay and secondary injection testing.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
Personal skills
* Proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach.
* Strong communicator with the ability to work independently and in teams.
* Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and organisational skills.
