Are you an experienced and dynamic Works Manageror Commercial Manager looking for your next position?We are currently looking for a Works Managerto support and lead development within our Bid Team across the Riney business. Within this role you will be leading the Private / Developer works department, pursuing and delivering works for Private sector clients from Site Projects, S278 works, Hard Landscaping to Public Realm type works within the London Markets. You will work closely with stakeholders across the businesses of JB Riney, Tarmac and CRH including Contracts and Finance Directors, Senior Estimators, Commercial and Operational delivery teams.You will strive to develop and strengthen key internal and external relationships, securing increased lead generation and market share, whilst helping to shape the company’s long-term objectives and determining plans for how these can be met. You will foster and strive to maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout the company.Main responsibilities:As the successful Works Manager, your role will focus on three key elements:Business DevelopmentIdentifying and developing new business opportunities, building relationships with various stakeholders whilst continuously evaluating and developing existing partnershipsManaging key client relationships alongside building new relationships, expanding the profile and reach of the company and its brandIdentifying and recommending new markets, proposing and developing strategic partnershipsEstimatingAnalysing tender enquiry documents whilst assisting the Bid team with pricing, including building up SOR items from first principals and drafting BOQ from spec and drawings where necessary to secure Subcontractor enquiries/pricingWorking alongside our Operational team members for delivery solutionsCommercialEnsuring governance and contract/legal review processes are followed for all projectsOverseeing the measurement and preparation of valuations, maximising financial returns within provisions of contract conditions and company proceduresLending contractual expertise to colleagues at contractual level, overseeing monthly and annual cost and value reconciliations, budgets and forecastsActively building relationships with customers to secure payments within contractual terms, managing overall works in progress, debt and stockManaging of procurement and sub-contractor accountsThe ideal candidate:The ideal Works Managerwill holdexperience of a similar position within a comparable sector with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in 2 of the 3 key role requirements – Business Development, Estimating and/or Commercial. You will have good knowledge of Highways Method of Measurement with London market experience desirable.Specific Requirements:Relevant Degree or Largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level) – would be consideredManagement Qualification – NVQ 5 / ILM / NEBSExtensive experience using Microsoft, Excel, Project, Causeway and PowerPoint packages as a minimumThe role is located in Bow, East London with the expectation to travel across the JB Riney programme of works. This role is commutable from such locations as Greater London, Poplar, Stratford, East Ham, Islington, London, Wanstead, Barking, Greenwich, Woolwich, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, Hackney, Chigwell, Chingford, Tottenham, Enfield, Dagenham, Ilford, Rainham, Romford, Brentwood and the surrounding area.At J B Riney, our people are our company.
