We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Band 2 Rehabilitation Assistant to join our friendly and supportive interdisciplinary team at the Swindon Intermediate Care Centre (SWICC). Your role will focus on helping individuals regain independence in daily living through tailored therapy programmes.Assist therapists in delivering personalised rehabilitation programmes, both one-on-one and in groups, supporting patients in exercises, self-care, meal preparation, and mobility.Provide encouragement and compassionate communication to motivate patients and support their families and carers.Help with basic assessments and report changes in patient progress or behaviour to the therapy team.Ensure the smooth running of the department by managing equipment, supporting infection control protocols, maintaining accurate records, and ordering supplies.Take initiative in managing your time across varied tasks, helping to keep the service running efficiently each day.Contribute to the training and support of newer assistants and volunteers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.Participate in team discussions, service improvements, staff development programmes, and Trust audits.Maintain up-to-date documentation and record your work accurately using SystmOne.Please see the attached job description for the full list of responsibilities.The Ideal CandidateEssentialTo carry out general clerical, administrative and departmental duties in support of clinical work and at the direction of the therapists and any other duties delegated by senior staff.To be involved in audit as part of working practiceTo be responsible for recording your own statistics SystmOneExperience of a previous role involving various modes of communication with a variety of peopleA knowledge of what the job entailsAbility to communicate with people with barriers to communicationAbility to empathise, support and  motivate patients and carersAbility to problem solve and use initiativeAbility to organise self and workload in order to complete given tasks within a given timescaleWilling to learn new skillsMotivatedDesirableNVQ or equivalent in related areaExperience in care deliveryExperience working at Band 2Previous experience in at least 1 of the following: Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Rehabilitation Assistant, Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.Experience of working in the NHS.Training in Rehabilitation competencies or equivalent base of theoretical knowledgeKnowledge of StrokeOther requirements:Willing to work in other areas of the Trust or Trust-wide as and when required to do soAbout The CompanyWe change lives by transforming health and care. Established in 2006 we are one of the UK's leading independent providers of community health and care services, working with health and care commissioners and communities to transform services with a focus on experience, efficiency and improved outcomes.
