About the roleThis role supports the provision of palliative care to children, young people and families living with a life limited condition. Palliative care includes the provision of respite breaks, enabling children opportunities to have fun and make memories ‘adding life to shortened years. You will provide high quality, holistic, family centred and compassionate care whilst meeting the complex clinical needs of the children in our care. The hospice delivers end of life care to a small number of children, working with specialist teams providing training and advice to manage children’s symptoms effectively. You will work as part of a large team comprising of clinical staff, activities coordinators and the child and family support team.Essential criteriaEducation/Qualifications RNC or RN Adult or RN LD registration3-year post registration experienceExperience Evidence of continued professional developmentAbility to manage a small clinical teamExcellent clinical skills and knowledgeExcellent interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with children, families and professionalsDemonstrate the values of the hospice and inspire this behaviour in others.Ability to present information written and orally in a clear and logical manner.Experience of supporting junior members of staff and students.Experience and confident in managing child and adult safeguarding concerns.Excellent time management and organisational skillsCompetent IT skillsAble to travel across various sites where applicableKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Previous leadership and management experienceTeaching and mentorship qualificationPhysical assessment qualificationIV competencyExperience of working with CYP with complex needs.Evidence of a range of clinical competenciesExperience of working in a palliative care settingOtherRight to work in the UKA valid UK driving licence and use of own car due to location of roleAbout usSouthern Hospice Group is the largest group of hospices in Sussex and one of the largest in the UK.
