Astute's Power Team are working with a leading Waste Management company who are looking for a Mechanical Fitter for a Quarry based in Yorkshire.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance and repair of fixed and mobile plants across our operations. You will play a key role in supporting operational continuity and minimising equipment downtime while maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Fitter role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Carrying out mechanical repair and maintenance on both static and mobile plants, including engines
* Performing servicing and inspections to minimise breakdowns and maintain efficient plant operation
* Identifying faults, carrying out diagnostics, and implementing timely, effective solutions
* Conducting risk assessments for non-routine tasks and adhering to safe systems of work
* Ordering necessary tools, equipment, and parts required for maintenance tasks
* Ensuring all work is completed in line with company health and safety procedures and industry regulations
* Reporting any near misses, incidents, or unsafe practices and contributing to site safety improvements
* Working both independently and as part of the wider maintenance and engineering team
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Ideally qualified with level 3 qualification in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent
* IOSH or similar would be advantageous
* Time served Apprentice in Mechanical Engineering
Personal skills
The Mechanical Fitter role would suit someone who has:
* Has experience maintaining and repairing static and mobile plants, ideally within a quarry or similar environment
* Is a self-motivated problem solver with strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Works well both independently and as part of a team
* Demonstrates a strong awareness of health and safety procedures and safe working practices
* Is organised, reliable, and able to manage their workload efficiently
* Has completed relevant Competency Management System modules and other required training
