Assisting with the preparation of food and contributing to the operation and cleanliness of kitchens, dining rooms, serveries and all associated equipment whilst supporting the production, portioning, distribution and service of the meals and snacks.The Catering/Laundry Assistant duties are defined by the cleaning specification and the allocated work schedule. Typically, the duties of a catering assistant will involve activities within one or more areas that can be completed within the timescale of the allocated shift pattern. Works as part of a multi disciplinary team, delivering a high standard of catering services to Patients, Staff and Visitors and delivering a high standard of sewing, linen and laundry service in areas of high activity.You belong in a team where you can act with purpose and thrive in your own way.What you’ll do:Arrive on time in a clean, ironed Sodexo uniform and clock in.Maintain good personal hygiene and follow Food Safety Act guidelines.Provide professional service to patients, staff, and visitors.Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, and equipment by hand or machine.Clean floors, surfaces, furnishings, and related equipment.Prepare and present sandwiches; assist chefs with basic food prep.Make and deliver tea runs to wards and departments.Clean and prepare ward food trolleys; deliver meals when needed.Follow food hygiene rules and keep all areas and equipment clean.Adhere to HACCP and complete required paperwork.Follow all Health and Safety, manual handling, fire, and infection control procedures.Report faults, maintenance needs, and PPE requirements to supervisors.Ensure security by locking doors and securing windows.Show relief staff how to perform duties when needed.Store and rotate stock correctly.Take part in Performance and Development Reviews.Keep all information confidential.Support company values: quality, teamwork, care, compassion, dignity, respect, honesty, and responsibility.Clean up spillages immediately and use warning signs.Sewing Tasks:Repair and alter uniforms.Label patient clothing and flat goods.Mend curtains when required.Linen Tasks:Keep linen stores stocked and tidy.Monitor and report linen stock levels.Clean and maintain exchange trolleys.Complete linen paperwork.What you bring:Good communication and interpersonal skillsGood customer care skillsBasic literacy and numeracyKnowledge gained through corporate and local inductionCompletion of internal training programmeTraining for cash handlingManual Handling and Fire Awareness trainingAttainment of Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate within 6 months (one day course)Working knowledge of procedures and equipment relevant to the roleAbility to operate mechanical and electrical machinery safely and effectivelyKnowledge of Health and Safety Policies and work proceduresKnowledge of Infection Control Policy, Guidelines, and ProceduresWhat we offer:Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater.
