Role Summary
This is an exciting time to join a busy rail operator to manage readiness for new fleet introduction.
You will be responsible for ensuring that operational depots are able to accommodate new rolling stock being introduced. This will include infrastructure readiness and readiness of depot production teams and facilities.
This position will involve defining the overall strategy for integrating a new fleet of trains into existing depot maintenance operations. This role will be responsible for driving efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness throughout the new fleet introduction process and ensuring best practice procedures are in place across production and operations to deliver long-term operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
* Integrate new rolling stock maintenance in line with business objectives, safety standards, and budgetary constraints.
* Ensure train maintenance propositions align with operational, safety, and cost-effectiveness requirements.
* Lead changes to production and maintenance facilities to accommodate the new rolling stock.
* Manage depot transition plans required to support product introduction, whilst minimising the operation impact.
* Liaise with depot management, operational teams, and infrastructure owners to ensure smooth transition and readiness for new rolling stock introduction.
* Develop new maintenance strategies and lifecycle cost assessments for new stock, ensuring long-term sustainability and value.
* Ensure compliance with relevant Engineering standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
* Define maintenance and production requirements with relevant technical stakeholders and suppliers.
* Identify and mitigate risks related to new fleet introduction.
* Manage the progress of infrastructure modifications and maintenance readiness plans.
* Implement a culture of continuous improvement for enhancing efficiency, reliability, and safety of the new fleet.
* Plan and allocate all resources for training and tooling needs as necessary for all production operations.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Minimum of a HNC in any Engineering related discipline
* Must have worked within rolling stock engineering - ideally 7+ years within EMU or passenger stock. Ideally within a maintenance depot environment, maintaining operational rolling stock.
* Must have experience within introducing new fleet or significantly refurbished fleet - key experience is the ability to manage change assurance documentation and update technical documentation such as VMIs.
* Strong understanding of depot operations and production planning for an operational fleet.
* Experience in managing a significant depot based change programme.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ideally has practiced risk management within projects with strong problem solving skills.
* Knowledge of UK rail standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
