This key role will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our Pave plant equipment including rollers, pavers and JCBs. You will form part of our 24/7 engineering function maintaining plant equipment primarily on the motorways and local authority roads in the region. If you share our values and are proud of a job well done, collaborative in working well with others and ambitious to make things better, then have a read of what we have on offer.Role ResponsibilityReporting to the Team Leader, your role as Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter will be responsible for:Responding to plant breakdowns – ensuring assets are returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solutionUndertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipmentOwning small scale projects and delivering them in a pragmatic and proactive mannerTaking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and coordinating with contractors and suppliers when they are on siteParticipating in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminatedContributing to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experienceWorking with risk assessments and method statements and contributing to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair proceduresMaintaining and promoting Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and proceduresChallenging unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company proceduresUtilising the computerised maintenance management system and recording all work including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out. Using application-based inspection schemesThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. You should also demonstrate proven experience working within an industrial, agricultural, factory or similar environment as a Mobile Fitter. Suitable candidates will:Have a recognised apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard)ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential)Have a strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred - conveyors, drive systems – pavers, motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, vibratory screensExperience of welding and fabricating to a good standard is preferred and able to remove and fit bearingsPossess a fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate actionBe capable of undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipmentIT literate - capable of using PCs, common applications and company systemsCompetent in the use of application-based inspection schemesAbility to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordinglyKnowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working PracticesFlexibility to attend Plant specific training courses and Workshop as well as positive approach to travel across the Yorkshire regionSuitable candidates for the role of Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter will possess CPC or be willing to train.
