Digital Sub-Editor - 12 month FTCSalary £30,000-£36,000 (dependent on experience)FT - 35 hours per weekHybrid - London - Travel to our London office at least twice a weekHere at Saga, we are looking for a Digital Sub-Editor who can work across digital and print. The Digital Sub-Editor will support the Managing Editor and Chief Sub-Editor in the delivery of all copy for the Saga Magazine brand. They will ensure all copy meets the high standard associated with Saga Magazine both in print and online under the direction of the Managing Editor. The role involves subbing copy for the monthly magazine, website and newsletters, ensuring all facts are checked and that grammar, punctuation and spelling are correct. The Sub-Editor will be an Adobe InDesign expert, with a working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator. They will have experience of flatplanning software and CMS. The Sub-Editor will be well-versed in writing engaging headlines, captions and other display copy that captivates readers and drives engagement across all platforms whilst also managing tight deadlines and prioritising tasks effectively to ensure timely delivery of content for print editions and online publication. The Sub-Editor will be required to rewrite copy when necessary and sensitively cut text to fit while keeping the writer’s tone of voice. They will follow all editorial style guides and standards to uphold consistency and quality across all published content (magazine, web, newsletters) across the brand. Part of the role will be to liaise with the art, picture desk and features departments to rectify any copy or design issues. Exceptional editing skills with a meticulous attention to detail and a thorough understanding of grammar, punctuation and styles across all platforms.Exceptional time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work fast and stay cool under pressure of print and digital deadlines.Strong command of headline writing and other age/digital furniture with the ability to craft compelling and SEO-friendly headlines for digital content, and to optimise meta data for the digital platforms.Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, print production software, digital editing tools and content management systems and experience of using workflow tools such as AirTable.About The CompanyOver the past 70 years we have become the UK's specialist provider of products and services to people aged over 50 in the UK.
