Healthy outcomes start with positive patient experiences.The Building and Fabric Manager at Royal Stoke University Hospital, Newcastle Road, Stoke on Trent, ST4 6QG, is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of a building’s structure and internal elements, ensuring safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance while managing costs and efficiency. Supporting the senior management team, the role focuses on the safe operation and maintenance of the hospital estate’s buildings and fabric, establishing high-performance, compliant teams. Additionally, the manager provides technical advice and support for building, fabric, and utility maintenance within the PFI estate, supervising both the direct labour force and contractors.What you’ll do: Manage day-to-day operations of supervisors, maintenance craft, and technical staff.Ensure compliance with audits, record-keeping, and work order management within your discipline.Plan and distribute workload via Maximo, ensuring timely completion and system updates.Assist in preparing and delivering the annual maintenance and lifecycle plans.Work with the Lifecycle and Project Manager to agree on the annual lifecycle plan, ensuring cost-effective replacements.Oversee maintenance of fire systems, suppression systems, flooring, timber doors, roller shutters, and window cleaning.Lead compliance with HTM/HBN standards, managing working at height, confined spaces, and health & safety requirements.Provide technical advice, fault diagnosis, and support for maintenance, ensuring a safe working environment and effective team management.What you bring: Extensive experience in the fabric trade.Confident engineer with strong assessment and diagnostic skills.Self-motivated and adaptable to changing priorities.Skilled in hands-on repair, fault finding, reading drawings, and using technical knowledge.Strong problem-solving ability with a logical approach.Confident under pressure, understanding urgency and responding appropriately.Willing to work standby rota and attend required training courses.Good knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, report writing, and computer literacy (preferably with building management systems).Desirable: Experience in fabric maintenance, healthcare settings, and working with multi-discipline trade groups.What we offer: Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater.
