Water Quality Manager – CardiffStep into a leading utilities company that champions innovation and service excellence.Last Mile Asset Management, part of the Last Mile Group, owns Icosa Water Services Limited (Icosa), which acquires and operates water and wastewater networks under its’ Ofwat license using the NAV process.Our Water asset management team is expanding, and we’re looking for a talented Water Quality Manager to ensure regulatory compliance and manage key stakeholder relationships.Leading a team of three, you’ll oversee regulatory tasks, sampling programs, and liaise with bodies like the DWI, Public Health Organisations, The Environment Agency and other water companies.You’ll also collaborate with internal teams to maintain high water quality standards, develop regulatory documentation, and provide expert guidance on asset management.While this role is based in Cardiff, we’re open to considering home-based candidates.What’s in it for you as a Water Quality Manager?Here at Last Mile, we pride ourselves in providing a great range of benefits including a fantastic amount of annual leave, including a Christmas shut down.25 days holiday, increasing after 2 years by 1 day each year up to 30 days, plus 9 public holidaysHoliday buy schemeDiscretionary bonusEV and ULEV salary sacrifice scheme (subject to minimum length of service)Cycle to work salary sacrifice schemeUp to 7% employer pension contributionLife assurance (x4 annual basic salary)Refer a friend incentiveWagestreamEmployee assistance programmeCar allowanceHybrid working for eligible roles (3 days in the office, 2 from home) *Flexible start and finish times for eligible roles*Private medical insurance*Company sick pay**Some of our benefits are only applicable when you have successfully completed your probation period*Your responsibilities as a Water Quality Manager:Oversee and manage daily regulatory water quality activities, ensuring compliance with water quality standards and asset management objectives.Lead, mentor, and develop the Regulatory Science Team, providing expert guidance on water quality regulations and supporting Asset Adoption and Management teams.Manage and coordinate responses to regulatory and operational issues, defects, and water quality concerns, including liaising with bulk water supply and discharge companies.Develop, maintain, and improve reporting systems for regulatory data, key performance indicators, and compliance tracking, while ensuring policies, procedures, and technical standards are up to date.Work closely with legal and contract teams to ensure agreements with external service providers align with safety regulations, industry best practices, and company standards.Implement and oversee risk-based Regulation 27 Risk Assessments and Regulation 28 reporting processes, ensuring robust monitoring and continuous improvement of water quality standards.Experience / Knowledge:Prior experience in a similar role within the Utility sector.Knowledge of requirements of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016.Experience of working in and/or managing a teamExperience with all Microsoft packagesExperience of developing and maintaining scientific/regulatory systems and documents such as policies, procedures and standards.Demonstrate knowledge of the water act and associated regulations.Qualifications:Degree or equivalent in a Scientific type of discipline.Have you got the drive to go to the Last Mile as a Water Quality Manager?
