What is the job role?You will undertake Level 3 Teachingassistant apprenticeship standard. Further information for this apprenticeshipcan be found: HEREThis apprenticeship role is afixed term contract for 21 months in line with the length of the apprenticeshiptraining.This is an exciting opportunityto join our growing Pathways to Employment Team and make a real difference tothe lives of young disabled people with learning disabilities,autism/neurodiverse, physical disabilities and other people who also face majorbarriers when it comes to gaining employment and learning. The Pathways to Employment Teamis part of the Skills, Employment and Adult Education Service. We work inpartnership with the Council’s SEND (Special Educational Needs andDisabilities) team to ensure that our residents have choice and control, goodquality support and the opportunity to progress through a range of employment& learning pathways. We support individuals by helping them to developtheir employment skills and progress into meaningful, sustainable and goodquality employment & learning opportunities.Under the guidance of experiencedJob Coaches and Tutors you will support young disabled people to access othersupport where appropriate, support the provision for young disabled people withon-the-job training and support whilst in the classroom or on work placements,assist the Job Coaches and wider team with pre job start activities for youngdisabled people, including recruitment days and employer contact. And work withthe Study Programme Manager and tutors to support young people with additional andspecial needs in overcoming barriers to learning.Within this apprenticeship willbe to support individuals to access employment related opportunities and becomeindependent in their roles and provide the necessary coaching, training andencouragement to enable them to succeed. This will include getting to know eachindividual, helping to match them to the right opportunities and then providingthem with on-the-job training and support in the workplace. You will also provide assistanceto learners with additional learning needs enabling them to participate asfully as possible in the Study Programme. You will also assist tutors in thepreparation of lesson materials. You will be responsible for maintaininglearner records and individual learning plans, as directed by the StudyProgramme Manager. You will support young people who experience severe anxietyin returning to education, meeting them at reception and walking with them tothe classroom.As part of your developmentacross the apprenticeship, you will be exposed to working with employers toidentify and create opportunities and ensure that they are supported and canconfidently manage, train and support customers once your support has beenfaded and withdrawn.
