Are you an experienced and dynamic Stores Personlooking for your next position?We are seeking an organized and proactive Stores Person to join our Alfreton Aircrete factory. In this role, you will manage the inventory of technical parts and equipment, ensuring our operations and engineering teams have the right materials at the right time. You will leverage your SAP expertise and engineering background to control costs and drive operational efficiency in our stores. If you have a passion for inventory management, strong supplier engagement skills, and a continuous improvement mindset, we want to hear from you!Main responsibilities:As the successful Stores Person you will report to the Senior Production Manager and will be responsible for Inventory Management for the Alfreton site, this includes maintaining and organising stock of technical parts, tools, and equipment using SAP (or SAP Maintenance systems), ensuring accurate stock records and prompt availability of critical items.On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Stores Person will include (not exhaustive):Liaison between departments, acting as a link between the operations and engineering teams to guarantee seamless communication and timely availability of the correct parts and tools for maintenance and production activitiesSupplier engagement, developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and suppliers to source the right materials, negotiate best pricing and terms, and ensure timely delivery and quality serviceCost Control & Efficiency, monitoring stock levels and implementing cost-control measures to avoid overstocking or stockouts. Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements in inventory processes, continually challenging and optimizing stock levels to support operational needs while minimizing costContinuous improvement, proactively evaluating and improving store processes (e.g. ordering, receiving, storage, and issuing of parts) for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Implementing best practices and new ideas to streamline workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiencyDocumentation & compliance, ensure all inventory transactions (purchase orders, goods receipting, stock counts, returns) are correctly recorded and compliant with company policies. Supporting periodic audits, and keeping SAP data up-to-date to maintain stock accuracy and facilitate smooth financial transactionsThe ideal candidate:The idealStores Personwill have hands-on experience with SAP or SAP Maintenance modules (or similar inventory management systems) for tracking inventory and managing work orders.The successful Stores Personwill also have the following:Experience working in an engineering environment or with technical parts and equipment. An understanding of mechanical/electrical components or maintenance spares is highly beneficialStrong understanding of cost control and budgeting in a stores or procurement context with a proven track record of implementing efficiency improvements or cost-saving initiativesAbility to develop and maintain effective supplier relationships, skilled in vendor negotiation and coordination to ensure best value (price, quality, delivery) and reliable supply of materialsExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to act as a bridge between Operations and Engineering teams and be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and SMEs to meet their materials/tools needsProactive, continuous improvement approach to work with a willingness to identify process gaps, suggest enhancements, and drive implementation of better practices in the stores functionStrong organisational skills with great attention to detail, capable of managing multiple stock categories, keeping accurate records, and ensuring no detail is overlooked in inventory managementThe role is based at our Blocks site in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
