Dean Close School are looking to appoint a Head of Classic to lead a thriving and highly successful department that consistently achieves excellent results. This is a full time position, starting in September 2025.The Head of Department oversees the Classics Department which teaches Years 9-13 and prepares pupils for GCSE and A Level exams. Other roles and responsibilities to include: Hold a clear vision for the Department in the whole school context. Update the departmental development plan and review public exam results annually with the Headmaster and Deputy Head Take responsibility for the teaching and learning of all pupils in the Department Advise on curriculum developments. Chair department meetings. Support the appraisal of members of the Department. Communicate effectively with parents, tutors and Housemasters/mistresses on matters relating to pupils in the Department. Ensure a smooth transition for pupils from feeder schools and Dean Close Prep School into the Department at Year 9.This role is looking for a teacher who has previous experience in a Classics department in a Senior School, and has the ability to teach classics up to A Level and prepare our students Early applications are encouraged, and applicants may be invited to interview prior to the closing date.
