An exciting opportunity is available for a Connections Strategy Team Member to join the Connections Strategy and Policy team for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.The Connections Strategy and Policy Team is responsible for ensuring that we have the correct connection policies, strategies and procedures to enable connections now and in the future. In this role you’ll provide administrative support to all activities undertaken by the Connections Strategy Team.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a big impact in NGED’s customer service by providing accurate and timely information to our customers with regards to their connectionsThe location of the role can be flexible and will be agreed with the successful candidate although regular attendance at our offices in Bristol, Tipton and/or Castle Donington will be required. The Connections directorate plays a pivotal role in supporting the business and its customers in achieving this. Our success will be judged by delivering excellence in our customer connections service from enabling small LCT connections such as EV charge points at domestic properties, through to connecting large demand and generation projects to our EHV and 132kV networks.Main ResponsibilitiesPreparation and dispatch of different Connection Agreement types for use between NGED and its connection’s customersUpdating and maintaining the CROWN based Connection Agreement database, associated records and spreadsheetsProviding distribution business details to electricity suppliers, customers and their consultantsProviding guidance and advice to customers on all aspects of Distribution Use of System tariffsAssisting with the administrative preparation and coordination of NGED’s annual regulatory submissionsProviding support and training to Primary System Design and Network Service Teams relating to the preparation and maintenance of Connection AgreementsAssisting with the preparation and maintenance of connections policy guidance literatureUpdating customer facing documentation including the annual revision of indicative charges for connections.Assisting the Connections Strategy Manager and Connections Strategy Engineers with other administrative functions within the Connections Strategy Team as requiredAssisting with providing training and support services to staff who implement Connections Strategy and Policy including, where required, helping with presentations to NGED PlannersBe aware of the work of colleagues in the Connections Strategy Team to assist with cover for their activities when requiredDeliver results on time, to required quality standards and to budget, to fulfil the business plan and achieve/support company goalsThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will need to show excellent inter personal and communication skills, and ability to provide training and advice in formal and informal groups in a range of settings.You should have a full knowledge of how NGED interacts with other industry participants including suppliers and energy consultants and a good general knowledge of NGED connection policy principles will be beneficial. A good working knowledge of Microsoft products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is important as well as the ability to communicate effectively, whether by telephone, email, letter or face-to-face and to develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersYou will need to have the ability to deal with customer enquiries quickly and efficiently and be able to resolve customer queries fairly with minimal supervisionA  good general engineering knowledge will be advantageous as well as have the ability to provide training and advice in formal and informal groups in a range of settings.Applicants should Ideally have 5 GCSE’s grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE including English and Mathematics.National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers.
