An opportunity is available for a Team Leader working in the Commercial Enablement team to organise the day-to-day operation of National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)’s Contract Works Assessors (CWAs).Reporting into the Commercial Enablement Team Manager you will manage the CWAs, acting as a focal point for guidance and leadership, in addition to carrying out the CWA alongside. You will maintain the highest levels of professionalism and customer service and be flexible and willing to ensure the team provide the services needed to support the Commercial team and the operational business.The role can be based at any office within our licence areas of East Midlands, West Midlands, South West and Wales. Our vision is to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future and we are doing this in a fast-moving industry with an increasing focus on tackling climate change, exploring new energy sources that are renewable, low carbon, and improve efficiency to meet demand.Main ResponsibilitiesDay to day management of the CWAs to ensure all their main duties and responsibilities are observed providing a professional audit and support service to the Commercial Team and the operational business.Under the direction and guidance of the Commercial Enablement Team Manager manage the quality and productivity of the CWAs; setting targets, monitoring own and CWA’s performance with regular performance reviews; ensuring high standards of work and developing and coaching staff as needed.Manage the CWAs with regard sickness, hybrid working and annual leave requests to ensure smooth running of the CWAs.Provide expert guidance on commercial activities within the team, the wider business and externally as required.Work with the Commercial Enablement Team Manager and with the other Commercial Team Leaders to continually improve working methods and processes, including system or contractual changes.Provide timely and accurate reporting around the performance of the operational business and contractors.Represent the Commercial Enablement team at internal meetings, either virtually or in person, across the businessRepresent the business at external meetings and events with Contractors and other stakeholders, either virtually or in person.Working with the Commercial Enablement Team Manager, prepare and deliver training and briefings to the CWAs and the operational business, either virtually or in personAssist, where needed, in more complex work activities and play an active part in ensuring queries are resolved quickly and professionally.Providing cover for the Commercial Enablement Team Manager when required.Be prepared to travel to internal and external venues to meet with stakeholders as required.The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for this role will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build the trust of key stakeholders, a proven track record of managing teams, and will have experience of working with Contractors or in a commercial environment. In depth knowledge of street works legislation and systems is also beneficial.You’ll also:Have a good understanding of how a diverse workforce will contribute to the future success of the business.
