We\'re currently recruiting a dedicated Kitchen Porter to help ensure the smooth running of operations at Defence on a full time basis, contracted to 37.5 hours per week.As a Porter, you will use your skills to maintain the kitchen, associated areas and equipment to the highest levels of cleanliness, and to ensure correct use of all cleaning equipment and cleaning products at all times. To assist with food preparation, handling and storage as directed by your Line Manager.Here\'s an idea of what your shift patterns will be: 5 out of 7 daysPlease note: This role is contracted to 2 weeks per yearCould you bring your spark to Defence? Here\'s what you need to know before applying:Your key responsibilities will include:Ensure you are aware of & comply with all client & company health & safety procedures and standards at all times e.g. Food Handling, COSHH, uniforms & PPE, Manual handling, Fire procedures, Quality control Complete, maintain and update all Food Safety and Health & Safety paperwork correctly when requiredMaintain the cleanliness of all kitchens and surrounding working areas ensuring Health and Safety hazards, issues, near misses and accidents are reported using the appropriate reporting procedures at the earliest opportunity Ensure the correct storage, control and use of all machinery and equipment, cleaning materials and relevant chemicals Undertake basic vegetable preparation as directed by your line managerAssist as an when required with the loading or unloading of supply vehiclesSupport with hospitality/functions service delivery effectively and efficientlyPerform other general tasks which may from time to time be required by, and deemed reasonable by your Line ManagerUndertake mandatory training as detailed in the training matrix, ensuring all training is recorded on your training record card and to complete all on-line trainingBe flexible and comply with any reasonable requests made by your line Manager including if necessary working within other units within reasonable distanceLearn and demonstrate the ESS Way behaviours at all times to colleagues, customers & clients Our ideal Kitchen Porter will:A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with customers and engage with team membersAn enthusiastic individual with a passion for working in a catering environmentHigh standards of personal hygieneAble to speak & understand EnglishAble to work flexibly in line with business requirementsAble to undertake a range of manual cleaning dutiesIntegrity – Respects colleagues & customersHealth & Safety – Follows the right procedures and challenges unsafe behaviourCan Do – Is flexible and takes initiativePassion – Is positive & proud of doing a great jobResponsibility – Takes ownership and doesn’t leave things to others or say ‘it’s not my job’Teamwork – Shares knowledge and experience with other team membersPart of Compass Group UK&I, ESS is the Defence, Government, and Energy services sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland.
