Main Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, child-centred care for children on a community SLT caseload across a variety of settings, including Family Hubs, nurseries, homes, and schools.
Lead and support the preschool and school-age SLT teams, including therapists, assistants, and students, while contributing to service development and meeting performance targets.
Provide specialist clinical expertise, training, and advice to colleagues, carers, and professionals, ensuring a coordinated and holistic approach to children’s speech, language, and communication needs.
Assess, diagnose, and create tailored treatment plans in collaboration with families and carers, ensuring cultural and linguistic considerations.


Key Responsibilities:


Independently manage a delegated caseload and work flexibly to ensure equitable service delivery.
Participate in multiagency meetings and safeguarding processes while maintaining strong communication links with health, education, and early years stakeholders.
Prepare reports, including those for Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), and provide specialist input to support planning and decision-making.
Adapt clinical practice to meet the needs of each child and provide evidence-based interventions, ensuring ongoing professional development and supervision.


Operational Delivery:


Actively promote clinical governance and participate in audits to ensure high standards of practice.
Implement service policies, manage risks, and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.
Support recruitment processes and lead training programmes for team members and external professionals.
Utilize flexible working arrangements, including remote and office-based tasks, with resources such as a laptop and mobile phone provided.

The Ideal CandidateEssential


Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC)
Health and Care Professions Council Licence to Practice (HCPC)
Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
Member of relevant Clinical Excellence Network
Evidence of relevant post graduate training, internal or external


​Desirable


Knowledge /training in PCI, Hanen strategies.
Knowledge/training in educational training packages e.g. ELKLAN, WellComm
Knowledge/training in signing e.g. Makaton
Knowledge/training in ASD strategies and interventions e.g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS
Demonstrable experience of working in the NHS


Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver
