Atlantic Way Care is spread over three individual sites providing 24-hour support for individuals with Learning Disabilities.

Our services are being shaped to fit the needs of our housemates and we offer a ‘holistic’ approach to delivery of care, taking great care to consider their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of those who live with us.

The Team Leader Role

As a Team Leader, you will promote and ensure that the company vision of person-centred support is implemented whilst maintaining an individual’s potential and independence. You will be a front-line manager, whilst also ensuring all necessary back office duties are completed within compliance.

Consistently demonstrate the Company values, leading by example and delivering safe, effective working practices.
Ensuring the provision of high-quality person-centred support for all people supported, in line with organisational objectives, regulatory requirements and other statutory bodies.
Developing and maintaining a warm trusting relationship with the people supported, families and other professionals involved in the care and support to provide a coordinated service to meet the needs of the individuals.
Ensuring the care and support is individually tailored to the person supported enabling them to have opportunities to exert choice and control over their lives and acting as a Key Worker as appropriate.
Assisting people supported in the administration and monitoring of prescribed medication in accordance with policies and procedures.
Assisting people supported with budgeting and managing their personal finances as independently as possible to support their chosen lifestyle.
Regular call requirement for designated services as required, acting as point of escalation and providing advice on incidents occurring out of hours.
Timely and accurate completion of Local Authority Safeguarding alerts, CQC notifications and any other regulatory or internal incident protocols under instruction from the Registered Manager.
Line management responsibility for an allocated team of support workers to include but not limited to conducting regular DARE Reviews, monitoring training compliance and other people related processes across designated services
Promoting and ensuring all colleagues deliver high-quality care and support, promoting personal development and reinforcing National Care Group as the Employer of Choice.
Supporting in ensuring safe resourcing levels, training compliance and effective recruitment.
Supporting in maintaining Quality and Compliance in line with internal policy and industry standards for all the people we support and colleagues.
Supporting in ensuring all Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Health & Safety checks.
Supporting in ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation i.e. COSHH, RIDDOR, IPC.
Supporting in ensuring accurate completion of all Service Audits including taking the appropriate steps to complete actions highlighted.
Supporting with adherence to infection prevention & control measures by:


 


Promoting and maintaining a culture in which infection prevention and control is of the highest importance.
Establishing and maintaining infection control standards in the services in line with national requirements.
Supporting with communication with colleagues, people supported, families and visiting professionals.


Resolving infection control concerns or escalating as appropriate


Acting as a role model within the scope of their remit.
Supporting with fact finding and information gathering information as required.
Active commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of service delivery and fostering this approach amongst colleagues.
Active commitment to keep up to date with changes across the Health and Social Care sector.
Personal commitment to ensure all training required is completed as it becomes due.
Flexibility to undertake any other duties that might be consistent with your role at the request of any Senior Manager.
Shift pattern based on five days across seven.
Working across services designated by the Registered Manager delivering direct support and Team Leader guidance.
Participate in Atlantic Way Care on-call rota.
Undertake scheduled audits in designated services.
Arranging, completing assessments with support from commercial team and writing proposals. 
Delivering support, to include sleeping/waking night as and when needed.


Skills and Qualities


NVQ or QCF Level 2/3 or equivalent in a Health and Social Care - or commitment to undertake.
Demonstrable understanding of the principles of high-quality person-centred care and support and non-discriminatory care practice.
Demonstrable understanding of the regulatory responsibilities and the law relating to care services.
Demonstrable understanding of systems to maintain confidentiality in relation to people we support, colleagues, and the organisation.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain effective professional working relationships with all colleagues.
Experience of building positive working relationships with people supported, their families, colleagues and other health and social care professionals.
Ability to plan and organise workloads effectively so people supported receive the services they expect.
Good standard of administrative skills and computer literacy.
Understanding of managing and developing an effective staff team including recruitment, training, supporting, and monitoring staff.
Ability to maintain clear written and electronic records and to follow statutory reporting procedures.
