Employee Relations Manager
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (38.75 hours per week)
Location: Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham

(Hybrid, 3 days office, 2 from home)

Dignity Funerals is seeking a dedicated ER Manager to join our team in Sutton Coldfield. This is an opportunity to play a key role in fostering positive employee relations, ensuring compliance, and providing expert advice to support our people and business goals. What your day-to-day could look like with us...

Deliver pragmatic and commercially focused advice and guidance on employee relations matters.
Lead, manage, and develop a team of 3 ER Advisors, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Maintain and develop policies, procedures, and frameworks for effective ER management.
Provide timely and practical advice on ER cases, including disciplinary, grievance, appeals, and investigations.
Manage ACAS conciliation and Employment Tribunal (ET) claims, including case reviews, document preparation, risk assessment, and resolution recommendations.
Lead employee consultations, redeployment, TUPE transfers, and redundancy processes.
Deliver training and coaching to line managers on ER best practices, including investigations, hearings, decision-making, and note-taking.
Analyse and interpret HR data to develop proactive ER strategies and engagement initiatives.
Identify potential risks and challenges in employee relationships, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
Stay up to date with ER trends, legal requirements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Support, coach, and mentor team members in employee relations development.
Prepare, analyse and review weekly and monthly management information (MI) on all ER matters.

What we're looking for:

Proven experience in an Employee Relations (ER) Manager or similar role.
CIPD Level 5 Qualified or with proven experience.
Previous experience of managing, mentoring or leading a team.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practices in ER case management.
Ability to provide commercially focused and pragmatic HR advice.
Experience managing complex ER cases, including ACAS and Employment Tribunal claims.
Excellent coaching, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
Strong working knowledge of Excel and functional experience with working with HRIS.
Experience in delivering training and developing line management capability in ER matters.
A proactive and hands-on approach to managing employee relations.
