What is the job role?This is an exciting opportunity to join Coventry City Council as a Climate Change Officer, playing an important role in delivering our One Coventry Plan and Climate Change Strategy. You will contribute to the management of the day-to-day performance and delivery of key projects identified within the Climate Change Action Plan, including retrofit and innovation programmes such as helping to develop the city’s first Net Zero Neighbourhood.
The role will also help the Council to deliver a sustainable future for the residents of Coventry by building relationships with partners, raising awareness of climate change amongst stakeholders, supporting the management, development and monitoring of funded programmes.
This post is an 12-month fixed term contract with potential option to extend
Who are we looking for?We are looking for an individual who wants to make a real impact on climate change and improve the quality of life for residents across the city. We are specifically seeking the following experience for the role:
An enthusiasm for tackling climate change supporting the Council’s ambitions for net zero.
Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively with people from all backgrounds and with multi-sector partnerships.
Knowledge and understanding of the processes and criteria for accessing external funding programmes i.e. government grants.
Understanding of project management techniques, including performance management and evaluation.
Experience of submitting grant claim information and compiling audit evidence of grant funded Programmes.
