Heritage Portfolio have a fantastic permanent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Finance Assistantto join the Heritage Portfolio Team who are based out of Edinburgh, Scotland.40 hours per weekMonday-FridayUp-to £30,000 per annumOur business operates across 11 iconic and prestigious venues in Scotland, including the breathtaking Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, the historic Signet Library, the majestic Dundas Castle, the enchanting Mansfield Traquair, and the renowned Perth & Musselburgh Racecourses. This role requires flexibility and the ability to travel between these extraordinary locations, so having your own transport is essential.We are looking for a highly capable finance professional to oversee financial operations for Heritage Portfolio Scotland, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting, and strong commercial support for operational teams. This role involves managing financial processes, supporting key decisions through insightful analysis, and fostering accountability by embedding a commercial focus. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly financial results, ensuring accurate accounting entries, reconciling supplier accounts, and managing outstanding debts. Working closely with the Finance Manager and operational heads, you will highlight key revenue and cost drivers, challenge overspends, and ensure financial processes are timely, transparent, and well-maintained.What you'll do:Ensure accurate accounting entries for purchase invoices, accruals, and prepayments in line with monthly and weekly timetables.Conduct weekly reconciliations of supplier accounts and outstanding customer/client debt while ensuring costs are captured in the correct periods.Adhere to company purchasing procedures, monitor expenditure against budget and forecast using a PO log, and communicate overspends to site GM and department heads.Manage EprophIT to ensure invoices are traded correctly and timely, and work with the Sales team to invoice and track event payments, trading revenues through EprophIT and SAP.Support debt collection by ensuring accurate event billing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.Assist in preparing monthly accounts, balancing sales with the Priava system, and ensuring accruals and prepayments are correctly accounted for.Provide financial support to Heads of Departments, including producing forecasts, profit and loss accounts, and ensuring food, liquor, and retail cost percentage targets are met.Oversee payroll management, verifying hours worked and pay rates, preparing uploads, and monitoring weekly rotas to prevent overspending.What you bring:Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse variances effectively.Experience with SAP, EprophIT, Priava, or similar financial systems is desirable.Background in producing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts is beneficial.Knowledge of retail and cash-handling environments is advantageous.Understanding of contract catering finance is desirable.Proven experience collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.What we offer:Working with Heritage Portfolio is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater.You’ll belong in a company and team that values you for you; you’ll act with purpose and have an impact through your everyday actions; and you’ll be able to thrive in your own way.
