An exciting opportunity is available for a Regulatory Outputs Analyst to play a key role within the RIIO-ED2 Regulation team to develop, provide and report high quality regulatory data and analysis for both internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Lead Regulatory Outputs Analyst, you’ll bring engineering insights to reporting and regulatory developments, and be confident showcasing your strong data analysis skills.
As this is a new role, you’ll play an integral part supporting the establishment of new ways of working for Regulation as National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) evolves its organisational structure. Utilising your effective relationship building abilities, you’ll form close working relationships with teams within other NGED directorates.
You’ll be preferably based at one of our offices in Castle Donington, Bristol or Tipton, however other locations will be considered. Hybrid working is available with approximately 2 days a week in the office and the remainder from home.

Main Responsibilities
Be responsible for preparation and submission of allocated sections of the annual Regulatory Reporting Pack (RRP) reporting to Ofgem, providing data input, table population and commentary for a range of cost, volume and memorandum reporting requirements, with a focus on asset and activity volume reporting, and especially on non-load capex and network operating costs reporting.
Liaise across the business to ensure NGED provides detailed explanations for price control performance.
Provide regulatory expertise and input for internal monitoring, reporting and forecasting processes, including for dashboard development
Review changes to regulatory reporting requirements, including reviewing changes to the RIGs (Regulatory Instructions and Guidance), understanding the business implication of such changes and provide regulatory expertise on this.
Monitor and review all associated processes and information sources so as to identify changes to systems required to match changes in regulatory focus and reporting; and address these with relevant NGED teams. From these systems, effectively and efficiently produce all required data to a high standard of accuracy, continuously identifying any areas of enhancement required.
Provide a variety of high quality regulatory information for submission to OFGEM, including re-opener submissions, close-out submissions, consultation responses and information requests. Assist in the analysis, interpretation and implications of a variety of regulatory requests and proposals and subsequent decisions from Ofgem.
Attend Ofgem and industry working groups as required, representing NGED in a professional manner.
The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will be able to communicate insights and recommendations clearly and effectively at multiple levels, both in writing and orally. You will be able to work independently and proactively under pressure to tight deadlines, producing high quality outputs.
You should be adaptable and able to respond to the changing nature of tasks in a regulatory environment.
Skills needed include:
Excellent data management and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheet modelling
Excellent attention to detail, ensuring integrity and accuracy of analysis and reporting
Ideally you will have a relevant qualification at Level 5 or higher in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of distribution network design and operations and an understanding of NGED’s regulatory environment and utility price controls would be an advantage. If not held, you would need a demonstrable ability to build this knowledge quickly.
Travel to other locations on an occasional basis forms part of the role and therefore holding a UK driving licence is beneficial.

Depending on the role, different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
