In the role of Shift Supervisor, you will report directly to a member of the Home Operations Leadership team and form an integral part of the warehouse management team.

Your primary objective is to deliver the DC plans and initiatives by effectively managing the warehouse operation team across all shift patterns, ensuring service and performance levels are achieved within operational objectives defined by the Warehouse Operations Manager. The role will require the individual to be people, performance and customer focused.

Responsible for: 



Delivering the shift plan within defined budgetary targets as agreed with the DC Manager  


Engaging and motivating the warehouse team to achieve or exceed KPI targets  


Maintaining Health and Safety, hygiene and security standards with the warehouse


Promoting and delivering continuous improvement programs within the warehouse, e.g. product allocation, stock integrity, resource management, loading efficiency in line with DC plans.

What you'll be doing

Ensure that labour costs in your department fall within budget as defined by the Warehouse Operations Manager 


Take corrective action to ensure that product damages, customer order shortages and pick errors are kept within agreed levels. 


Monitor productivity performance and agreed KPIs with the DC Manager and ensure targets are met or exceeded


Investigate customer services issues as directed by the Planning and Liaison Manager and provide prompt feedback and suggestions on remedial actions to prevent similar issues


Maintain all inventory management procedures related to the department you run in line with company guidelines, working in partnership with the Planning and Liaison Manager


Ensure the department meets all Health & Safety requirements and direct reports are aware of their responsibilities.


Ensure compliance to standard operating procedures


 



Take responsibility for all areas of people management for direct reports including coaching, nurturing talent and motivating the team through effective leadership


Provide feedback, coaching and guidance to colleagues in your area of responsibility


 

 Knowledge of warehouse systems, functions and audit trails
 Experience of working in an environment where there are standard operating procedures
 Experience of managing disciplinary, performance and absence procedures
 Organisation skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and manage own time
 People management and leadership – ability to motivate and communicate effectively. Ability to cater style
dependent on the situation and resource employed.
 Experience of leading health and safety, IOSH certified is preferred but not essential
 Ability to challenge others on their methods of working and manage process adherence
 Strong computer literacy: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
 Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, including working in a start-up atmosphere.
 Ability to effectively communicate issues and direction to colleagues and senior management.
 Basic understanding of and willingness to learn and adopt professional and industry standards.

Work closely with management colleagues to drive efficiencies across the Distribution Centre promoting a culture of continuous improvement

Experience; Minimum 3 years of experience in warehouse, distribution and supply chain in a supervisory role


Knowledge of warehouse systems, functions and audit trails 


Experience of working in an environment where there are standard operating procedures 


Experience of managing disciplinary, performance and absence procedures

People management and leadership – ability to motivate and communicate effectively. Ability to cater style dependent on the situation and resource employed.
