Estimator
The Role
Barhale is one of three delivery partners within the Anglian Water Integrated Operational Solutions Alliance. IOS is a medium complexity, capital maintenance and enhancement, design and build delivery unit to support the successful implementation of the Anglian Water AMP 8 business plan.
Working as part of our established alliance team, this role is to provide estimates for Civil and MEICA projects across both disciplines of Water and Water Recycling. As part of a successful, experienced and diverse project team, the estimator will work alongside Project Engineers, Designers, Site Managers, and commercial and procurement teams to collectively develop contract proposals and secure work. We are looking for a keen, driven and collaborative individual to join us as part of our business development.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Estimates
Interpreting client tender requirements
Take off and review BoQs from client information
Prepare estimates in accordance with Company procedures promptly
Collate supporting information during the estimating process including opportunity and risk registers together with key assumptions registers.
Work collaboratively with the IOS team to agree on methodology and principles.
Work alongside the Business Development officers on strategic PQQ’s and ITT’s.
Work in partnership with the procurement team.
Presentation of estimates at adjudication
Prepare to estimate adjudication pack
Present basis of estimate and key assumptions
Maintain notes of adjudication meetings
Closeout actions and monitor customer negotiations, seeking amended authority as required
Handover to site teams at contract award
Prepare to estimate the handover pack
Present basis of estimate and key assumptions
Maintain notes of handover meeting
Provide ongoing support to site teams relating to estimating and key assumptions

Essential Skills:
Experience in estimating and/or operational experience in the following areas: Water, MEICA, Civils and Groundworks
Competent in construction techniques and the associated resource requirements for the above sectors
Proficient with tender build-ups
Proficient in using Microsoft Office
Numerate and familiar with estimating software
A confident demeanour and the ability to liaise with all levels of personnel and customers
Excellent organisation, time-management, and prioritisation skills
Desirable:
Chartered Engineer or similar level
