**Mechanical Maintenance Engineer**
Initial 2-month contract + Likely extensions
Location: Greater Manchester / Northwest
Rate: Up to �32.00p/h DOE (Limited - Outside IR35 / PAYE / Umbrella)
Shifts: Panama Days and Nights
High Speed / Machinery / Automation
We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on a contract basis for a leading client based in Greater Manchester. This well-established company is renowned for its innovation in the design and production of secure documents, including currency and other high-security items.
Responsibilities for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role include:
* Managing reactive breakdowns and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to ensure plant efficiency
* Working on critical plant machinery including presses, conveyors, pumps, packaging machines, and sorting systems
* Ensuring compliance with safety standards in a high-volume industrial production environment
* Logging and reporting necessary maintenance and operational data in accordance with internal processes
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining plant performance
Key skills and attributes required:
* Time-served mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
* Experience with mechanical systems such as gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and pumps
* Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
* Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a focus on maintenance improvements
* Site Safety Card - CSCS / CCNSG
