We have a vacancy for a Craftsperson (Overhead Lines) based in Cardiff to cover the Cardiff area.
In this role you will be required to undertake construction, maintenance, replacement and repair of overhead lines up to and including 66kV. This is a diverse role that will see you working in all kinds of challenging terrain and weather. You will work at height so experience of this will be beneficial.
Candidates are required to have Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

The Ideal CandidateThe successful applicant will ideally have experience of working on overhead cables or at height, however consideration will be given to those candidates who have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training. If not already attained you will be required to study for the relevant City & Guilds qualification and complete TAR, which includes daily diary completion and a number of tasks and reports as required.
You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential, as you will be required to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.
Operationally we require you to live within approximately 30 minutes of the depot you are applying for.
Please note, where job roles involve working at height and the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment, there are restrictions on the maximum weight of the individual.
