Astute’s Power team is partnering with a world-wide Sugar Producer to recruit a Mechanical Technician for its site in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Area Lead you will:
* Carry out pre-planned and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to, motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, valves, boilers, compressors, fans etc.
* Undertake measures to improve the plant reliability, efficiency and performance of the plant, always in a safe and efficient manner.
* Carry out reliability techniques including laser alignment, vibration analysis and oil sampling.
* Be competent to receive / authorise permits as required.
* During maintenance periods, undertake testing and commissioning of plant to prepare for operational periods.
* Maintain the site CMMS to record the maintenance activities undertaken.
* Supervise 3rd party subcontractors on maintenance activities.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Time served apprentice with a NVQ Level 3 / HNC in Mechanical Engineering
* Experience working in a heavy industrial environment, ideally from a power station background or with experience on large rotating plant.
* Happy to work a day-shift rota with occasional night / weekend cover
