A temporary opportunity has arisen for the Primary Network Design Team Manager (East Midlands) role, based at our Castle Donington offices, for a period of up to 12 months, subject to review.

Reporting to the Primary Network Design Manager, the Team Manager is responsible for leading, developing and motivating a multi-disciplinary team responsible for all connections onto the East Midlands Primary Network (132kV, 33kV and 25kV), and the network design of the Primary Network encompassing new connections, network reinforcement and asset replacement, and for the provision of technical support to Network Services and other teams within NGED.

You will also be a key member of the PND management team, working collaboratively with other PND teams and wider business teams; Engineering Design, Distribution Systems Operations (DSO), Network Services, Projects and Consents & Wayleaves.

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main ResponsibilitiesThe PSD team manager is responsible for managing the East Midlands PSD team, covering the following areas:


Management of new connections to the primary network, including maintaining good standards of customer service.
Stakeholder engagement with customers.
Interface with various departments across the business, including Engineering Design, DSO, Network Services, Projects, Consents & Wayleaves, Policy and Control.
Ensuring compliance with power quality and earthing regulations and standards.
Assistance towards planning for ED3 primary reinforcement.
Management of the connections and reinforcement work programme.
Monitoring sickness absence.
Managing workload requirements of the team.
Assist with supporting the roll out of ANM.
Providing guidance and support on the application of company policy.
Representing NGED on national working groups and with NGET/NGESO.

The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will be self-motivated and demonstrate a clear knowledge of the principles and issues associated with EHV and 132kV network design. 

You should be delivery focused, self-motivated and able to achieve results, have excellent organisational, communication skills and be able to react decisively under pressure, whilst ensuring you maintain consistently high standards.

You need to be willing to lead people and seek to get the best out those working for you.  It is preferable that you have a degree in a related discipline and are working towards Chartership with IET. Evidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment.

You should also be mobile throughout the area hence a full UK driving licence is essential.
