This post will work on a 4 nights on, 4 nights off rota, 7pm to 7am including weekends and bank holidays. Flexibility is required to cover for annual leave and unexpected circumstances as part of a highly specialised team.Key Duties and Responsibilities:1. Cremations: Carry out the cremation process whilst adhering to all statutory legislation and non-statutory guidance notes. It is mandatory that all Cremation Technicians hold or be prepared to undertake a period of theoretical and practical training in order to obtain the necessary professional qualification demonstrating competency to oversee the cremation process. The CTTS is a nationally recognised BTEC qualification.2. Chapel Duties: Provide chapel attendant cover in both of our ceremonial spaces as required. Liaise with Officiants, Funeral Directors and most importantly the bereaved in a professional and empathetic manner, prepare the Ceremonial space for services, check service particulars, receive funerals and conduct appropriate identification procedures.3. Distribute Cremated Remains to Funeral Directors and families. Deal with all necessary administration relating to cremation, make entries in registers; compile stock reports; generate ash-holding reports for office action; On gaining the Crematorium Technicians Certificate of Proficiency, you may be required to provide day to day supervision of cremation activities including on site guidance and training to other employees as required. Assist with decorative wrapping of cremated remains ready for release to families and third party clients. To ensure that all personal effects and jewellery are prepared for return and that all audits are kept up to date relating to items in our care.4. Administration: Undertake day-to-day duties, including phone duties, taking service bookings; liaising with funeral directors, clergy and other service users; inputting of data onto specialised computer systems; production of daily reports and information; memorial advice and sales and producing cremation certificates and other associated administration where necessary.5. Mortuary Duties (cover): Receive the deceased from Funeral Directors and Pure Cremation's operations team, assist with encoffining, placing into cold rooms and preparations for cremation. Complying with the company's identification procedure; recording all interactions with the deceased using our bespoke IT system.The successful candidate will have:Experience of working within the funeral sector preferable but not essential.Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)Used to working to, and adhering to at all times Company detailed policies, procedures, and health and safety requirementsAbility to problem solve, and work with minimal supervision.Acts at all times with integrity, respect, dignity, confidentiality, and professionalism.Resilient and able to work to tight deadlines, and within a pressured work environment.Must be able to work in a physically demanding role due to heavy, potentially dangerous machinery, and lifting and moving heavy loads.Used to working to and adhering to manual handling techniques, and manual handling requirements.Have an eye for detail and be able to work to a high level of accuracy and demonstrate exceptional communication skillsWillingness to commit to and successfully complete the mandatory CCTS BTEC qualification for Crematorium Technicians.Key Skills:Experience of keeping accurate recordsGood telephone manner and communication skillsWorking in accordance with detailed proceduresAbility to solve problemsWork with flexibility as part of a teamDelivering excellent Customer ServiceOur Benefits: Generous 27 days holiday Cycle to work schemeBupa Health Cash Plan and Life Assurance, upon successful completion of probation.
