The Lead Ecologist will be responsible for:
* Leading and developing an expanding team of ecologists, ensuring high performance and strategic growth.
* Conducting and coordinating fieldwork, including habitat/species surveys, and producing detailed reports.
* Delivering expert ecological advice and training to project teams and clients, effectively managing ecological risks and opportunities.
* Engaging with statutory authorities, building trusted relationships, and compiling license applications and mitigation strategies.
* Driving the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) initiatives and ecological services on various projects.
The Lead Ecologist will have:
* A degree-level qualification in environmental or related subjects (preferred) and at least 3 years of experience in construction or infrastructure sectors.
* Proficiency in field surveys, including UK Habitat Classification assessment and protected species surveys.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle competing priorities and manage budgets effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
* A practical, pragmatic approach to delivering innovative ecological solutions and a willingness to travel across the UK.
